כי עבדים אנחנו - פסוק הוא בספר עזרא וסיפא ויט עלינו חסד לפני שרי פרס לתת עלינו מחיה:
באש בימי נבוכדנצר - שהטילנו לתוך הכבשן:
אימתי ראו כל אפסי ארץ את ישועת אלהינו בימי מרדכי - שהדבר נגלה לכל האומות שהלכו אגרות בכל העולם:
מסורבלין - מלובשין בבשר:
נעשה שונאו של הקדוש ברוך הוא מך - כמי שלא היה יכול להושיע:
אדם ולא מלך - זה המן:
רב מתנה [אמר] מהכא - פתח פתחא:
[הדא דכתיב כו'] - מה שכתב בתורה ואין קונה גזר המן שלא יהא אדם רשאי לקנות מהן לעבד:
This is as it is written, etc.: That which is written in the Torah (Deuteronomy 28:68), "and no one will buy [you]" - Haman decreed that no person be allowed to purchase them as a slave.
ושמואל אמר מהכא - פתחא לא מאסתים וגו':
ואם לא תורישו וגו' - אף אלו נענשו על שחמל שאול על עמלק:
אעשה לכם - אף אלו כמעט כלו:
אחיו של ראש - כלומר דומה לו:

שמלך מעצמו - שלא היה מזרע המלוכה:
That he reigned on his own: That he was not from the offspring of the royal house.
כי הוא רודה - כתיב בשלמה:
For he had dominion: This is written about Solomon.
כשם שמלך על תפסח ועל עזה וכו' - והכי קאמר כי הוא רודה בכל עבר הנהר כמו מתפסח ועד עזה:
Just as he reigned over Tiphsah and over Gaza, etc.: And this is what it is saying - that he had dominion on all of this side of the river, like [he had] from Tiphsah to Gaza.
מלכו בכיפה - תחת כל כיפת הרקיע:
Ruled over the dome: Under all of the dome of the sky.
הא דאמרן - מהודו ועד כוש:
As we have said: From Hodu to Cush.
