Sefaria Community Translation

with hymns let us raise our voices unto Him.

Sefaria Community Translation

For a great Almighty is Adonoy

Sefaria Community Translation

and a great King over all gods.³

Sefaria Community Translation

For in His hands are the depths⁴ of the earth,

Sefaria Community Translation

and the heights of the mountains are His;

Sefaria Community Translation

For the sea is His, and He made it,

For He is our God

Sefaria Community Translation

and we are the people of His pasture,

Sefaria Community Translation

and the flock of His hand,

Sefaria Community Translation

[even] today⁵ if you will heed His voice.

footnotes: ⁵ It is possible for us to reach this high level and to be accepted as His flock even this very day, if we would hearken to His voice.—Dover Sholom

Sefaria Community Translation

Do not harden your heart as at Merivah,

Sefaria Community Translation

as on the day of Massah⁶ in the desert.

footnotes: ⁶ The Jews complained and murmured at the lack of water during their wanderings in the wilderness (Exodus 17:1-17; Numbers 20:1-13).

Sefaria Community Translation

When your fathers tested Me,⁷

footnotes: ⁷ The words from here till the end of the Psalm, are the actual words of the Divine Presence that emanated from the throat of Moses,

they tried Me,

Sefaria Community Translation

though they had seen My work.

Sefaria Community Translation

Forty years I quarreled with that generation;

Sefaria Community Translation

and I said,

Sefaria Community Translation

“They are a people of erring hearts,

Sefaria Community Translation

and they did not know my ways.”

Sefaria Community Translation

Therefore I swore in My anger,

Sefaria Community Translation

“They shall not enter My resting place.”⁸
