אֲרוּם הַיְידָא אוּמָא רַבָּא דְּאִית לָהּ אֱלָהָא דְיִקְרַב לְוָותָהּ כַּיְיָ אֱלָהֵן בְּכָל שָׁעָה דִי אֲנַן קַרְיַין לֵיהּ וְהוּא עָנֵי יָתָן:
For what people is so great, who hath God so nigh to it as the Lord our God is, in every hour that we cry unto Him, and He answereth us?
דְּמוּת כָּל נוּנַיָא דְאִית בְּמַיָא מִתְּחוֹת לְאַרְעָא:
The likeness of any fishes which are in the waters under the earth.
לְמֶהֱווֹן עַם חֲבִיבִין הֵיךְ סְגוּלָה כְּיוֹמָא הָדֵין:
To be a people beloved as a treasure in this day.
אֲרוּם יְיָ אֱלָהָכוֹן אֶשָׁא דְאָכְלָא אֶשָׁא הוּא אֱלָהָא קִנְאַן וּמִתְפְּרַע בְּקַנָּאִין הוּא:
For the Lord your God is a consuming fire; the jealous God is a fire, and He avengeth Himself in jealousy.
אוֹ הַיְידָא אוּמָא וּמַלְכוּ דִי שְׁמָעַת:
Or what is the people or kingdom that hath heard?
אוֹ נִסַיָיא דְעָבַד מֵימְרָא דַיְיָ לְמֵיעַל לִמְבַשֵר לֵיהּ אוּמָא מִגוֹ אוּמָא:
Or the signs which the Word of the Lord hath wrought, coming to announce (that He would separate) to Himself a people from among a people ?
דִּי יִקְטוֹל יַת חַבְרֵיהּ בִּתְכּוֹף דְּלָא יְדַע וְהוּא לָא הֲוָה סָנֵי לֵיהּ מִדְאֶתְמוֹל וּלְאַדְקָדָמוֹי:
Who had slain his neighbour unawares, but had not entertained enmity toward him yesterday or before.
וְדָא אֲחוּיַית אוֹרַיְיתָא דְשַׁוֵי משֶׁה קֳדָם בְּנֵי יִשְרָאֵל:
This is the declaration of the law which Mosheh set before the sons of Israel.
מִן לְחָיַית דְּאִית עַל גַּב נַחַל אַרְנוֹנָא וְעַד טוּרָא דְמַסְרֵי פֵּירוֹי הוּא טוּר תַּלְגָא:
From Lechaiath, on the side of the river Arnona, unto the mountain whose fruits are delivered, which is the Snowy Mount;
