וְהִינוּן לָא הֲווּ יָדְעִין אֲרוּם הֲוָה שְׁמִיעִי יוֹסֵף בִּלְשַׁן בֵּית קוּדְשָׁא אֲרוּם הֵיךְ כִּמְתוּרְגְמַן הֲוָה מְנַשֶׁה קָאִים בֵּינֵהוֹן:

But they knew not that Joseph heard in the holy language; for as an interpeter Menasheh stood between them.

וַאֲמַר לְהוֹן יַעֲקב אֲבוּהוֹן יָתִי תְכֶלְתּוּן יוֹסֵף מִן שָׁעָא דִשְׁלָחִית יָתֵיהּ לְוַתְכוֹן לֵית אֲנָא יָדַע מַה הֲוָה בְּסוֹפֵיהּ וְיַת בִּנְיָמִין אַתּוּן בַּעֲיָין לְמִיסַב וְעָלַי הִינוּן לְמוֹקְמָא תְּרֵי עֲשַר שִׁבְטִין:

And Jakob their father said to them Me have you bereaved of Joseph. From the hour that I sent him to you I have not known what was his end; and Benjamin you are seeking to take. Yet by me are to arise the twelve tribes.
