וְשַׁבַּח דָוִד בִּנְבוּאָה קֳדָם יְיָ יַת פִּתְגָמֵי תּוּשְׁבַּחְתָּא הָדָא עַל כָּל יוֹמַיָא דְשֵׁיזִיב יְיָ יַת יִשְׂרָאֵל מִיַד כָּל בַּעֲלֵי דְבָבֵיהוֹן וְאַף לְדָוִד שֵׁיזְבֵיהּ מֵחַרְבָּא דְשָׁאוּל:
And David praised in a prophetic spirit before the LORD with the words of this praise song, concerning all the days that the LORD saved Israel from the hand of all their enemies, and also David from the sword of Saul.
וַאֲמַר יְיָ תּוּקְפִי וְרוּחְצָנִי וּמְשֵׁיזִיב יָתִי:
And he said, “The LORD is my strength and my trust and the one who rescues me.
אֱלָהִי דְאִתְרְעֵי בִי קָרֵבְנִי לִדְחַלְתֵּיהּ תּוּקְפֵי דְמִן קֳדָמוֹהִי מִתְיְהַב לִי תְּקוֹף וּפוּרְקָן לְאִתְגַבָּרָא עַל בַּעֲלֵי דְבָבִי רוֹחֲצַנִי דְעַל מֵימְרֵיהּ אֲנָא רָחִיץ בְּעִדַן עָקָא מֵגִין עָלַי מִבַּעֲלֵי דְבָבִי וַאֲמַר לַאֲרָמָא קַרְנִי בְּפוּרְקָנֵיהּ סוּמְכָנִי דַהֲוָה מֵימְרֵיהּ סְמַךְ לִי כַּד הֲוֵיתִי עָרִיק מִן קֳדָם רָדְפַי פּוּרְקָנִי מִבַּעֲלֵי דְבָבִי וְאַף מִיַד כָּל חֲטוֹפִין שֵׁיזִיב יָתִי:
My God, who chose me and drew me near to his fear. My strength, from before whom strength and salvation were given to me to overpower my enemies. My trust, on whose speech I trust in times of distress, shielding me against my enemies; He promised to raise my horn in his salvation. My support, whose speech was supporting me, when I was fleeing before my pursuers. My salvation from my enemies, and He saved me even from the hand of all robbers.”
אֲמַר דָוִד בְּתוּשְׁבְּחָא אֲנָא מְצַלֵי קֳדָם יְיָ דִבְכָל עִדַן מִבַעֲלֵי דְבָבִי פָּרִיק יָתִי:
And David said, “I am praying in a praise song before the LORD, who in all times saved me from my enemies.
אֲרֵי אַקֵיפַתְנִי עָקָא כְּאִתָּא דְיַתְבָא עַל מַתְבְּרָא וְחֵילָא לֵית לָהּ לְמֵילַד וְהִיא מְסַכְּנָא לִמְמָת סִיעַת חַיָבִין בַּעֲתַת יָתִי:
For distress surrounded me, like a woman who sits on the birth stool, and she lacks the strength to give birth, and she is in danger of dying. A company of sinners terrified me,
מַשִׁרְיַת רַשִׁיעִין אַקְפוּנִי קַדְמוּנִי דִמְזַיְנִין בְּמָנֵי קְטוֹל:
armies of the wicked surrounded me, those who were armed with murder weapons confronted me.”
אֲמַר דָוִד כַּד עָקָא לִי אֲנָא מְצַלֵי קֳדָם יְיָ וּקְדָם אֱלָהַי אֲנָא מִתְחַנֵן וּמְקַבֵּל מֵהֵיכָלֵיהּ צְלוֹתִי וּבָעוּתִי קֳדָמוֹהִי מִתְעַבְּדָא:
David said, “When I am in distress, I pray before the LORD and before my God I plea. And He accepts my prayer from his temple, my request is done before Him.
וְאִתְרְגִיפַת וְאִתְרְגִישַׁת אַרְעָא שַׁכְלוּלֵי שְׁמַיָא זָעוּ וְאִתְרְכִינוּ אֲרֵי תְקֵף רוּגְזֵיהּ:
The earth was stirred and shaken, the foundations of the heavens trembled. They were bent down, because his anger was fierce.
סְלִיק זְדוֹנֵי דְפַרְעֹה רַשִׁיעָא כִּתְנָנָא קֳדָמוֹהִי בְּכֵן שְׁלַח רוּגְזֵיהּ כְּאָשָׁא בָעֲרָא דְמִן קֳדָמוֹהִי מְשֵׁיצָאָה מְזוֹפִיתֵיהּ כְּגוּמְרִין דְנוּר דָלְקָא מֵימְרֵיהּ:
The pride of Pharaoh went up like smoke before Him. Therefore, He sent his anger, like a burning fire which came destroying from before Him; his threat was, like coals of fire, blazing by his speech.
וְאַרְכִּין שְׁמַיָא וְאִתְגֵלִי יְקָרֵיהּ וַעֲנַן אֲמִיטְתָא כְּבַשׁ קֳדָמוֹהִי:
And He bent down the heavens and his Glory was revealed, and a dark cloud covered before Him.
וְאִתְגְלֵי בִּגְבוּרְתֵיהּ עַל כְּרוּבִין קַלִילִין וְדַבַּר בִּתְקֵיף עַל כַּנְפֵי רוּחָא:
And He revealed himself in his heroism upon the swift cherubim, and he rode in his strength on the wings of the wind.
וְאַשְׁרֵי שְׁכִינְתֵּיהּ בַּעֲרָפֵילָא וַעֲנַן יְקַר סְחוֹר סְחוֹר לֵיהּ מָחִית מִיִן תַּקִיפִין מֵרִכְפַּת עֲנָנִין קַלִילִין בְּרוּם עַלְמָא:
He made his Presence reside in a thick cloud, a glorious cloud was all around Him, bringing down mighty waters from a mass of swift clouds in the world’s height.
מִזִיו יְקָרֵיהּ מַבְהִיקִין שְׁמֵי שְׁמַיָא מְזוֹפִיתֵיהּ כְּגוּמְרִין דְנוּר דַלְקָא מֵימְרֵיהּ:
From the splendour of his Glory the heavens of heavens were shining. His threat was, like coals of fire, blazing by his speech.
אַכְלֵי מִן שְׁמַיָא יְיָ וְעִלָאָה אֲרִים מֵימְרֵיהּ:
The LORD thundered from heaven, the Most High raised his speech.
וּשְׁלַח מָחָתֵיהּ כְּגִירִין וּבַדְרִינוּן בַּרְקִין וְשַׁגְשִׁינוּן:
He sent his plague like arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and confused them.
וְאִתְחַזִיאוּ עוּמְקֵי יַמָא אִתְגְלִיאוּ שַׁכְלוּלֵי תֵבֵל בִּמְזוֹפִיתָא מִן קֳדָם יְיָ מִמֵימַר תְּקוֹף רוּגְזֵיהּ:
The depths of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were revealed, at the threat from before the LORD, from the speech of his angry strength.
שְׁלַח נְבִיוֹהִי מֶלֶךְ תַּקִיף דְיָתֵיב בִּתְקוֹף רוּמָא דַבַּרְנִי שֵׁיזְבַנִי מֵעַמְמִין סַגִיאִין:
A strong king sent his prophets, He who dwells in strength on high led me out, He rescued me from many nations.
שֵׁיזְבַנִי מִסַנְאַי אֲרֵי תַקְפַנִי מִבַּעֲלֵי דְבָבֵי אֲרֵי אִתְגַבָּרוּ עֲלָי:
He rescued me from my haters, for they overpowered me; from my enemies, for they challenged me.
יְקַדְמוּנִי בְּיוֹם טִלְטוּלִי וַהֲוַת מֵימְרָא דַייָ סְמַךְ לִי:
They confronted me on the day of my expulsion, but the speech of the LORD was supporting me.
וְאַפֵּיק לִרְוָחָא יָתִי שֵׁיזְבַנִי אֲרֵי אִתְרְעִי בִי:
He brought me forth into an open place, He saved me because He chose me.”
אֲמַר דָוִד יְשַׁלְמִינַנִי יְיָ כִּזְכוּתִי כִּבְרִירוּת יְדַי יְתִיב לִי יְיָ:
David said, “The LORD will recompense me according to my innocence, according to the purity of my hands He will repay me.
אֲרֵי נְטָרִית אוֹרְחָן דְתַקְנָן קֳדָם יְיָ וְלָא הַלִיכִית בִּרְשַׁע קֳדָם אֱלָהָי:
For I kept the ways which are right before the LORD, and have not walked in wickedness before my God,
אֲרֵי כָל דִינוֹהִי גְלָן לְקִבְּלִי לְמֶעְבַּדְהוֹן וּקְיָמוֹהִי לָא עֲדִית מִנְהוֹן:
for all his judgments were revealed before me to do them, and his statutes – I did not depart from them.
וַהֲוֵית שְׁלִים בִּדְחַלְתֵּיהּ וַהֲוֵית נָטַר נַפְשִׁי מֵחוֹבִין:
I was perfect in his fear, and I was keeping my soul from guilt,
וַאֲתֵיב יְיָ לִי כִּזְכוּתִי כִּבְרִירוּתִי קֳדָם מֵימְרֵיהּ:
and the LORD repaid me according to my innocence, according to my purity before his speech.
עִם אַבְרָהָם דְאִשְׁתְּכַח חֲסִיד קֳדָמָךְ בְּכֵן אֲסְגֵיתָא לְמֶעֱבַּד חִסְדָא עִם זַרְעֵיהּ יִצְחָק דַהֲוָה שְׁלִים בִּדְחַלְתָּךְ בְּכֵן אַשְׁלֵמְתָּא מֵימַר רְעוּתָךְ לְמֶעְבַּד עִמֵיהּ:
Abraham, who was found loyal before Thee – therefore, Thou hast increasingly acted loyally with his seed. Isaac, who was perfect in thy fear – therefore, Thou hast perfected the speech of thy pleasure with him.
עִם יַעֲקֹב דְהַלִיךְ בִּבְרִירוּתָּא קֳדָמָךְ בְּחַרְתָּא בְנוֹהִי מִכָּל עַמְמַיָא וְאַפְרַשְׁתָּא זַרְעֵיהּ מִכָּל פְּסוֹלָא פַּרְעֹה וּמִצְרָאֵי דַחֲשִׁיבוּ מַחְשְׁבָן עַל עַמָךְ בַּלְבַּלְתִּינוּן בְּמַחְשְׁבַתְהוֹן:
Jacob, who was walking in purity before Thee – Thou hast chosen his sons from all the peoples, Thou hast separated his seed from all the rubbish. Pharaoh and the Egyptians, who were planning plans against thy people – Thou hast confused them according to their plans.
וְיַת עַמָא בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל דְמִתְקְרָן בְּעַלְמָא הָדֵין עַם חֲשִׁיךְ אַתְּ עֲתִיד לְמִפְרַק וּבְמֵימְרָךְ תַּקִיפָא דְמִתְגַבְּרִין עֲלֵיהוֹן תַּמְאִיךְ:
And the people of the House of Israel, who are called ‘a poor people’ in this world, Thou wilt save, but by thy speech Thou wilt humiliate the strong, who were overpowering them.
אֲרֵי אַתְּ הוּא מָרֵי נְהוֹרֵי דְיִשְׂרָאֵל יְיָ וַיָי יַפְקִינַנִי מֵחֲשׁוֹכָא לִנְהוֹרָא וְיֶחֱזִינַנִי בְּעַלְמָא דַעֲתִיד לְמֵיתֵי לְצַדִיקַיָא:
For Thou art Master, the light of Israel is the LORD. And the LORD will bring me out of the darkness to the light, He will show me the world to come for the righteous.
אֲרֵי בְמֵימְרָךְ אַסְגֵי מַשִׁרְיָן וּבְמֵימַר אֱלָהָי אֲכַבֵּשׁ כָּל כְּרַכִּין תַּקִיפִין:
For by your speech I multiply armies, by the speech of my God I subdue all strong fortified cities,
אֱלָהָא דְכֵיוָנָא אוֹרְחֵיהּ אוֹרַיְתָא דַייָ בְּחִירָא הִיא תַּקִיף הוּא לְכָל דִי מִתְרַחֲצִין עֲלוֹהִי:
the God, whose way is straight. The law of the LORD is choice, a strength is He for all who trust upon his speech.
בְּכֵן עַל נִסָא וּפוּרְקָנָא דִי תַעְבֵּיד לִמְשִׁיחָךְ וְלִשְׁאָרָא דְעַמָךְ דְאִשְׁתַּאֲרוּן יוֹדוּן כָּל עַמְמַיָא אוּמַיָא וְלִישָׁנַיָא וְיֵימְרוּן לֵית אֱלָהָא אֶלָא יְיָ אֲרֵי לֵית בַּר מִנָךְ וְעַמָךְ יֵימְרוּן לֵית דְתַקֵיף אֶלָא אֱלָהָנָא:
Therefore, on account of the miraculous salvation that Thou wilt provide for thy Anointed One and for the remnant of thy people that will remain, let all the nations, peoples and languages confess and say, ‘There is no God but the LORD, for there is no one beside Thee.’ And let thy people say, ‘There is no one who is strong, but our God.’
אֱלָהָא דְסָעִיד לִי בְּחֵילָא וּמְתַקַן שְׁלִים אוֹרְחִי:
The God, who helps me with strength, and makes my way perfect;
מְשַׁוֵי רִגְלַי קַלִילִין כְּאַיָלָתָא וְעַל בֵּית תּוּקְפֵי יְקִימִנָנִי:
making my feet as swift as the hinds, and He sets me on my stronghold;
מַלֵיף יְדֵי לְמֶעְבַּד קְרָבָא וּמַתְקֵיף בְקֶשֶׁת נְחָשָׁא דַרְעִי:
training my hands to do battle, and strengthening my arms like a bow of bronze.
וִיהַבְתְּ לִי תְּקוֹף וּבְפוּרְקָנָךְ וּבְמֵימְרָךְ אַסְגִיתַנִי:
Thou hast given me strength, Thou hast saved me, and with thy speech Thou hast made me great.
אַסְגִיתָא פְּסִיעָתִי תְּחוֹתָי וְלָא אִזְדַעְזְעָא רְכוּבָתִי:
Thou hast made my step great before me, and my knee did not shake.
וּרְדָפִית סַנְאַי וְשֵׁיצֵיתִינוּן וְלָא תָבֵית עַד דִי גְמַרְתִּינוּן:
I pursued my haters and destroyed them, and I did not turn back until I finished them.
וְשֵׁיצֵיתִינוּן וּגְמַרְתִּינוּן וְלָא יְכִילוּ לְמֵיקָם וּנְפָלוּ קְטִילִין תְּחוֹת פַּרְסַת רִגְלָי:
I destroyed and finished them, so that they could not rise, the killed ones fell under the soles of my feet.
וּסְעַדְתַּנִי בְחֵילָא לְמֶעְבַּד קְרָבָא תְּבַרְתָּא עַמְמַיָא דְקַיְמִין לְאַבְאָשָׁא לִי תְּחוֹתָי:
Thou hast helped me with strength to fight the battle, Thou hast scattered under me nations which rose to harm me.
וְסַנְאַי תְּבַרְתָּא קֳדָמַי מְחַזְרֵי קְדַל בַּעֲלֵי דְבָבַי וְשֵׁיצֵיתִינוּן:
Thou hast scattered before me my haters, who turned their back, my enemies, and I destroyed them.
בָּעָן סָעִיד וְלֵית לְהוֹן פָּרִיק מְצַלָן קֳדָם יְיָ וְלָא מְקַבֵּיל צְלוֹתְהוֹן:
They asked for help, but there was no saviour, and they prayed before the LORD, but their prayer was not accepted.
וְדוֹשַׁשְׁתִּינוּן כְּעַפְרָא דְאַרְעָא כְּסִין שׁוֹקִין בְּעַטֵית בְּהוֹן רְפַסְתִּינוּן:
I trampled them like the dust of the earth, like the dirt in the streets I stepped on them; I crushed them.
וּתְשֵׁיזְבִנַנִי מִפַּלְגוּת עַמָא תְּמַנַינִי רֵישָׁא לְעַמְמַיָא עַמָא דְלָא יְדָעִית יִפְלְחוּנָנִי:
Thou wilt save me from the strife of the nation. Thou wilt appoint me head of the nations; a nation that I do not know will be subjected to me.
בְּנֵי עַמְמַיָא יִתְכַּדְבוּן לִי לִשְׁמוֹעַ אוֹדֶן יִשְׁתַּמְעוּן בִּי:
Sons of the nations will feign to me; as soon as their ear hears, they will listen to me.
בְּנֵי עַמְמַיָא יְסוּפוּן וִיזוּעוּן מִבִּירְנְיָתֵהוֹן:
Sons of the nations will perish, and they will come trembling out of their palaces.
בְּכֵן עַל נִיסָא וּפוּרְקָנָא דַעֲבַדְתָּא לְעַמָךְ בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל אוֹדִיאוּ וַאֲמַרוּ קַיָים הוּא יְיָ וּבְרִיךְ תַּקִיפָא דְמִן קֳדָמוֹהִי מִתְיְהִיב לָנָא תְּקוֹף וּפּוּרְקַן וּמְרוֹמֵם אֱלָהָא תְּקוֹף פּוּרְקָנָנָא:
Therefore, on account of the miraculous salvation that Thou didst for thy people, they gave thanks and said, ‘Existing is the LORD, and blessed be the Strong One, from before Whom strength and salvation was given to us, and exalted be God, the strength of our salvation.’
אֱלָהָא דַעֲבַד פּוּרְעֲנוּתָא לִי וְתַבַּר עַמְמַיָא דְקַיְימִין לְאַבְאָשָׁא לִי תְּחוֹתָי:
The God who took vengeance for me, and scattered under me the nations that were rising to harm me.
וּפַרְקִי מִסַנְאַי וְעַל דְקַיְימִין לְאַבְאָשָׁא לִי תַּגְבְּרִינַנִי מִגוֹג וּמִמַשִׁירְיַת עַמְמִין חֲטוּפִין דְעִימֵיהּ תְּשֵׁיזְבִינַנִי:
He saved me from my haters, He made me overpower those who were rising to harm me, He will save me from Gog and the armies of the robbing nations that are with him.
עַל כֵּן אוֹדֵי קֳדָמָךְ יְיָ בְּעַמְמַיָא וְלִשְׁמָךְ אֵימַר תּוּשְׁבְּחָן:
Therefore, I will give thanks before Thee, O LORD, among the nations, and to thy name I will say praise.
מַסְגֵי לְמֶעְבַּד פּוּרְקַן עִם מַלְכֵּיהּ וְעָבֵד טֵיבוּ לִמְשִׁיחֵיהּ לְדָוִד וּלְזַרְעֵיהּ עַד עַלְמָא:
[He who] gives great salvation with his king, and shows goodness to his Anointed One, to David and to his seed for ever.”
