The burden of the word of the Lord; in the land of Ḥadrakh and Dammeseq shall his resting place be: for the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Yisra᾽el, shall be towards the Lord:

and in Ḥamat also which borders thereby; Żor and Żidon, though it be very wise.

And Żor did build herself a stronghold, and heaped up silver like dust, and fine gold like the mire of the streets.

Behold, the Lord will strip her of her possessions, and he will smite her power into the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.

Ashqelon shall see it, and fear; ῾Azza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and ῾Eqron shall see that her expectation has been confounded; and the king shall perish from ῾Azza, and Ashqelon shall not be inhabited.

And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Pelishtim.

And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his detestable things from between his teeth: and he too, shall remain for our God, and he shall be like a clan in Yehuda, and ῾Eqron like the Yevusite.

And I will encamp about my house against any army, against any that pass by, and return: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with my eyes.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Żiyyon; shout, O daughter of Yerushalayim: behold, thy king comes to thee: he is just, and victorious; humble, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt, the foal of an ass.

And I will cut off the chariot from Efrayim, and the horse from Yerushalayim, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace to the nations: and his dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth.

As for thee also, because of the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit in which there was no water.

Return to the stronghold you prisoners of hope: even to day will I restore to thee a double promise.

For I have bent Yehuda for me, I have filled the bow with Efrayim, and raised up my sons, O Żiyyon, against thy sons, O Yavan, and made thee as the sword of a mighty man.

And the Lord shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth like the lightning: and the Lord God shall blow the shofar, and shall move in the stormwinds of the south.

The Lord of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink, and be boisterous as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and like the corners of the altar.

And the Lord their God shall save them on that day as the flock of his people; for they shall be like the stones of a crown gloaming over his land.

For how goodly they are, and how beautiful! corn shall make young men flourish; and new wine, the virgins.
