(Proverbs 21): The wine-drinker - The drinker is one who makes fun of the laws of wisdom, because the laws of wisdom must be accepted with faith and sincerity of heart, otherwise there is no example for them, and teaches that even someone who has accepted the laws of wisdom, if he mistakes with wine - will not be wise, because wine is a drinker, making fun of the laws of wisdom, since it will rule the heart and its desires to deviate from the path of wisdom into debauchery, and everything seems to him to be a plain thing.

And here, the joker only jokes about wisdom, not about reason; but the stupid reward does not joke about reason at all, only about brute force, because then his mind is already useless and he becomes like brute animals without reason.

A snarl like a kuffar is a king's terror, he has already said (19:12) A snarl like a kuffar is a king's wrath, that when he is in a rage, one should not approach him like a kuffar in his dwelling during his hunger, for then he will certainly devour, and here he said that even in a time of desire, when one can approach him, one must beware of the king's terror. The boundary of terror is something that is threatened by his great exaltation and virtue, and one must not transgress the laws of terror, for terror will warn that one should not be careless, nor should one use his scepter, and that one should be careful of his appearance, and whoever transgresses these laws is liable to death and sins against his soul, and whoever approaches this terror without feeling it, is as if approaching a kuffar in his dwelling:

Honor to a man of the Sabbath from quarreling. Whoever comes to quarrel because he has been provoked, will not consider him honorable, whether in that by quarreling he will be provoked even more and the purpose will not be achieved, or in that it is he himself who is careful about the slander, a lesson that is in the actual slander, and more he will have honor if he sits away from quarreling, or in that which shows that he is not careful, as in the saying, "A bondman is a double-minded man," or in that which protects him from disgrace, as in the saying, "Do not go out to quarrel hastily, lest what will you do in the end?" etc., and this is the law of wisdom to restrain his anger, but the fool who is content with the law of wisdom will not be able to restrain his spirit, and his lesser qualities are revealed immediately, as in the saying, "Woe to the day that knows his anger" (12:16):

A lazy person will not plow and ask at the harvest and there is none. The time for plowing is in winter and then the weather is cold, and the lazy person who does not like to do work even at the right time, when he is lazy in the winter solstice, and then when the harvest comes when the weather is good asks to eat and there is none, and he is a parable about the man who is lazy to gather wisdom in his youth, when it is time to plow the plot of the soul from the thorns and briers and the images of desire, and to sow in it the seed of wisdom and knowledge, but then the boiling of choices and his desires will prevent him from doing so and he will be lazy, and then in his old age when the boiling of childhood has subsided, but since he did not prepare the soil of the soul for wisdom in its time, he will not find fruit. Similarly, winter will recommend the days of the soul's life in the body, when it is time for plowing and sowing, and when the soul sheds its material clothing, then it is time for harvesting, and whoever did not bother In the name of what one should eat on Shabbat:

Deep waters are counsel in the heart of a man, and a man of understanding will guide him. Counsel is to choose the best and most beneficial of all possible parts, and behold, many thoughts flow like a stream of water across the heart, as it is said, “Many thoughts are in the heart of a man.” But the counsel, which is to choose the best of all possible parts, leading to the desired goal, is hidden deep in the heart, at the source of the north, in the depths of a great abyss. There is counsel according to wisdom, and this is the counsel of Hashem, who instilled the laws of wisdom, and he received this counsel from others, because wisdom is acceptable among men. And a wise man listens to counsel, for the law of a priest and counsel from a wise man will not perish. (Jeremiah 18:18) Indeed, the counsel that is in the heart of man himself, to understand with his mind to choose the good, is very deep, and will not be diminished from the depths of the soul only by the power of the intellect, which understands one thing from another, and judges with the power of his intellect all the parts of the contradictory, to see from all the multitude of thoughts which is the best of all, and the investigation of the intellect by reasoning is like a well of water. From a deep place, one ties rope to rope until one descends to the well, and so one ties a string to a string until one brings out the truth through the power of understanding:

Sefaria Community Translation

A great man will be called a man of kindness Kindness is what he does not out of obligation or promise, but out of a generous heart, and faith is what he does out of obligation or promise, and as such it would be fitting that someone who does kindness should do so out of faith, that if he volunteers what he did not commit to, he will keep the obligation and what is incumbent upon him. Indeed, in human nature, it would appear to be the opposite, that few people of faith will do what is incumbent upon them lightly, they will be deceived and will touch the wealth of others. However, when it comes before them to do kindness, many will find it to do it, and this is because people do not do good for themselves only for the glory and praise, and they will be even more delighted if they do kindness, because in this their kindness will be declared, and this is the reason why A great man will be called a man of kindness. With this, many will find it to do kindness, so that each and every one will call out his kindness and make it public, although No faithful person will be found, because from this no honor will be bestowed. And glory, and also R.L. Who will find a faithful man who will do true kindness, which is kindness done in modesty, not with much proclamation and publicity, because the root of every deed is the love of honor and retribution:

Sefaria Community Translation

The righteous man walks in his integrity, blessed are his children after him. The righteous man is one who does the work of righteousness and is not yet perfect, because the boundary of innocence is that he does all his deeds for the name of Hashem alone, not for the sake of honor, glory, and external appearance, for then he will not always stand by his righteousness, and who will be drawn to the word of Hashem? A faithful man, who will be found? And so the righteous man is not perfect in acting in faith. However, the righteous man who walks in his integrity, doing all his deeds for the sake of Hashem (and Hashem walks in a way that preserves the steadfastness that the righteous will never err), even though he may not attain the apparent praise, Blessed are his children after him, because the reward of innocence (who did not want to enjoy the reward of his deeds) will remain for his children from generation to generation:

(8-9) A king sits on a throne of judgment, who can say, "I have earned my heart?" The wise man has already said, "If you see oppression and plunder in the land, do not be surprised at the object, for He is higher than the highest, and there is no justice in the land, know that the reason for this is because the highest judge in the land does not oversee justice himself, he only delegates the administration of justice to the deputy minister under him, and the minister delegates it to the one under him, and the oppressed will not be able to reach the king himself for justice. For then it will be shown that the lesser judges will not oversee justice, or they have no power or they will follow greed and bribery. Indeed, if the king himself sits on a throne of judgment, and executes justice himself, then he will certainly execute justice for the oppressed, and the arm of a high priest will be broken." He said about this four conditions: a) That the king executes justice himself, b) That he sits on a throne of judgment, Sitting on the throne indicates the determination, 3] that he sits on the throne of judgment, that there is a difference between a throne of judgment and a court of law, that the judgment is the final judgment and the ruling, and the judgment is the hearing of the arguments of the judge, who will also hear the arguments of the judge himself, not through the lawyers of the judges and judges who hear the arguments, who will thereby be able to mislead the Supreme Judge, 4] He removes all evil from his eyes, who, apart from the judgment, watches over the people in a great way and scatters and scatters evil with the eyes of his supervision, that he himself walks among the people to watch over evildoers to cut off all workers of iniquity, when all these conditions are present Who would say, "I have justified my heart," and how would it seem to a man that if he is justified in his heart, he would already be purified from his sin? Would he not fear and be afraid of this great judge who has absolute power, and who is not swayed by bribery, and 27 a parable about the great and awesome King, the Lord Hashem, on whom he sits Always on the throne of judgment, and with His eyes watching all the actions of men with His constant personal supervision, and who would not fear this judge, whether for the thoughts of his heart, for who would say, "I have justified my heart." Or for his actual actions, for "I have been cleansed from my sin," and for example:

A stone and a stone anywhere and everywhere. Let something be depicted that is bad according to the manifest and not bad according to the observed, such as if the buyer of a stone and a stone must weigh the meathe, in a large weight and a small weight, and the seller must measure the fruits according to this value, so that if the seller sells in a small amount, he pays the meathe in the small weight, although in this he can say, "I have gained my heart," since he gives according to justice, 27 he cannot say, "I have been cleansed from my sin" according to the manifest, because both of them are an abomination to Hashem, even if both of them are found opposite each other, the stone is opposite the ipha, because the Torah generally warned that one should not find a stone and a stone in your pocket in any way and with any justification:

Even in his deeds, a boy will be distinguished whether he acted righteously or not. There is a difference between an action and a deed. Deeds are actions that depend on mental qualities, such as actions that grow from the nature of pride or humility, cruelty or mercy, and so on. He said, "If you see an action or a business from a boy, and you do not know how he did it, and you want to know from this the essence of the boy and his future destiny, you will be able to recognize it by his qualities and standards. For example, Moses killed the Egyptian and said to the wicked man, "Why do you strike your neighbor?" And it is still not known whether he did it out of love of justice and righteousness or out of the nature of revenge and pride, and so on. He went ahead and told his deeds. Moses grew up and went out to his brothers and saw their suffering, which was his deeds and mental qualities. He did not act proud and arrogant when he was in the king's court, but he went out to his brothers and became like one of them, and he saw and participated in their suffering, which was the teacher of his suffering and mercy. And his goodness, and it was known that the judgment he rendered against the Egyptian was from the side of righteousness and love of justice, and so was Joseph, who brought the burden of his brothers, before recounting his qualities, that he was a shepherd with them in the flock and was a servant of the sons of Bilhah, submitting to them, serving them, not boasting, not hating them, and that the burden of the burden was brought out of their love so that their father might rebuke them, And by his deeds it was known that his actions were pure and upright:

Sefaria Community Translation

A hearing ear and a seeing eye, Hashem made both of them. These two senses, which are sight and hearing, are the most helpful in understanding, and the ear precedes the eye, so that first it receives through reception and hearing, and then it sees with its eyes and it becomes clear to it that it is true, because if it does not hear first, it will not understand what it has seen, and after hearing and seeing it will understand to know, as it says: "Hear and hear, but do not understand; and see and see, but do not know." And for this reason it is said that Hashem made these two senses, and so He made both of them because they are strange to one another, and man needs to use these two senses in honor of the Lord, so that he may hear the words of the Torah and wisdom from the mouths of the wise, and see and discern the works of Hashem from the perspective of observing creation, as it says: "For I will see your heavens, etc."

Do not love a year, lest he who opens his eyes inherits seven loaves, simply put, in a parable, that the accumulation of wealth requires diligence and diligence, and the lover of sleep inherits, and the one who closes his eyes in sleep will not be satisfied with bread, and it was borrowed from the proverb that the word "suba" is not satisfied, but from the verse "open your eyes" it is clear that there is a proverb in it, because the act of opening the eyes of sight is not said about opening the eyes of sight, only about opening the eyes of the mind, and the sleep of the mind is found even when a person is awake and his physical eyes are open, if his spiritual soul sleeps and the slumber of matter has fallen upon it and his eyes of mind are closed from looking at Hashem, and it is drawn to the verse "hearing ear and seeing eye, Hashem made both of them", which in the verse "both of them" implies that the ear and the eye are twofold, as there is also a spiritual ear and an intellectual eye, about which the language of hearing came about understanding the mind, and hearing the voice of Hashem, and the language of seeing about seeing the mind, and my heart saw much Wisdom and knowledge, and Hashem made both, so that by seeing and hearing with the external sense, he would hear and see with the internal, intellectual sense. Just as it is not good if a person sleeps all the time and does not engage with the physical ear and eye, for then he will inherit and his body will not be satisfied with the bread of his bosom, so one must open his eyes, for the wakefulness is rooted in the spiritual eyes, for if he loves the sleep of the intellect, he will inherit and lose the property of the soul, which is the Torah and wisdom, but if he opens the eyes of his mind, then his soul will be satisfied with the bread of the law, according to which he will live eternal and spiritual life:

The buyer will say, "It is bad," says the way of the world that a buyer who comes to buy something will say about the thing that it is bad, and after he is jealous and it is gone from the seller's possession, then he will boast about the object he bought. And this is because he first considered the price that is being asked for the object that he is so angry about, saying that it is bad in comparison to its price, but after he has already paid its price, then he will exalt himself in his eyes because he was jealous at a great price. And this is a parable, in contrast to the one who said, "Do not love sleep, because the Torah is purchased for a little sleep and a little pleasure." And although he initially said, when buying wisdom, he would say, "It is bad," because he would consider its value to be the price he would pay for it, which is the exertion of the body and the abandonment of sleep and pleasure. Later, when wisdom is purchased, he will boast, and explain his words.

There is gold, because this property that he acquired through his labor, which is the language of knowledge (the boundary of knowledge is that he will have clear knowledge from wisdom, as something he has achieved in tangible things, which was alluded to above in the phrase "a seeing eye and a hearing ear, Hashem made," as above, and by opening his eyes, he will attain the language of knowledge, meaning clear knowledge that this is knowledge, and that it will be familiar to him from the language and outward, as it is always explained that the language alludes to knowledge). Here, the language of knowledge is a very precious instrument that has no equal in the world, because if he bought and gave it for the price of gold and pearls, it would not be so precious, because there is a lot of gold in reality and there are many pearls, and they are many in the world, but the language of knowledge is a precious instrument that is not found at all:

And he has a parable, which he alludes to in the word "foreigner," which according to the parable is a foreign prostitute, like "to keep from a foreign woman from her deceitful words," and according to the parable, he speaks here and there about false opinions and the opinions of the worshipers of the Almighty, that one who perceives false wisdom under the wisdom of the Torah and morality is a prostitute with a foreign people, and here he alludes to it in the name of "guarantee," because the guarantor accepts the responsibility of the borrower, and likewise he accepts the responsibility of the external opinion with which he prostitutes himself, to drive away any creditor from her in difficulties and difficulties:

  • And if a surety is for a stranger, meaning knowledge that is outside the wisdom of the Torah and its roots (but in 27 it is not foreign because it contains knowledge of a foreigner and the worship of a foreigner), he shall take from him his garment and the splendid garment and the golden earrings that Israel wore on Mount Horeb,

A man is a false bread. According to the parable, whoever eats false bread, meaning bread that comes through theft, deceit, fraud, and the like, at first it seems to him that he is a false bread, because it came to him without effort, but later his mouth will be filled with gravel and arrows, because he will be punished by the judges or by Heaven, and according to the parable, continuing upwards, the one who holds onto external opinions, heresy, and idolatry will desire to have food for his soul's desires. Here is this bread that feeds his spiritual soul, which is false bread from false opinions. At first it seems to him that he is a false bread, as the saying goes, "For the sifter is filled with the lips of a stranger," but later his mouth will be filled with gravel and arrows, thorns, and the death of the soul, and his mouth alludes to the wisdom of the Lord, which is full of false wisdom, which are arrows for the spiritual soul:

Thoughts in counsel are prepared and in stratagems make war, we have already explained this above (12:14) that all the many thoughts that a person thinks about the possible sides are called thoughts, and they are like a flowing stream of water, and when he chooses one of the possible parts to do according to the purpose, it is called counsel, and then there is a foundation and basis for the thoughts and they no longer float on the wings of the wind, and alas Thoughts in counsel are prepared, and one counsel is needed, indeed in war, stratagems are needed, which is the combination of many counsels, because even the fighter against him has thirteen counsels, and there we explained that therefore in war it is good to have many counsellors so that they can advise on several counsels on all the sides that the enemy will turn, and we have already explained above (15:22) that without a secret and with many counsellors, thoughts will arise, because if they do not keep counsel secret, it will not come to the purpose, and then there is also a need for many counsellors so that they can also advise on the manner That the advice would be spoiled by revealing the secret, and therefore he said here:

A secret exile goes astray and his lips entice you, do not interfere, because after the advice is barren and he will be spoiled by revealing the secret, you must be very careful of those who are accustomed to revealing the secret, and they are three, a] someone who is by nature a secret exile and is not a faithful spirit, b] someone who is a gossip-walker, whose way is to reveal a secret through his gossip, c] his lips entice you, who speaks deceitful words with his lips and out of his habit of talking a lot will not keep his secrets from his enticement, With all these you must not interfere, because your advice will be spoiled by them:

Cursing his father and mother, you will be a light in the dark. The one who curses his father and mother who gave birth to him will be depicted in two ways, a] A person whose life is a burden on him and thinks in his heart that the evils in the world outweigh the good (as the teacher who was a true scholar of some sects brought) and therefore the reality is bad, and his absence is better for him, Cursing his father and mother who were his grandfather to his reality in this bad life, and about him it was said That his light was dimmed in the dark, for a person's light is his fortune and success that shines on his head, and even those whose light is dim or extinguished still have some light, like someone whose light was dimmed at night and sees by the light of the moon, and he is the hope that is in the heart of every person, but this person dimmed his light and remains in the dark without the light of hope and hope at all, as the saying goes: The lamp of the wicked is dimmed, and the wicked in darkness will die, and there is another way that he curses his father and mother for the inheritance he desires They will die first so that he can inherit their inheritance quickly, and therefore the lives of his children will be difficult for him, and Hashem forbid.

An inheritance that is initially and subsequently seized will not be blessed, because there is no blessing in both inheritance and discovery, as the Sages say, because only property that comes through effort, not by chance, will not be blessed, and when the inheritance comes before the time, which is like a discovery, it will not be blessed on two counts, a) because it is an inheritance, b) because it is initially and subsequently seized, and therefore its later will not be blessed, and in this case he will not have success in his inheritance:

(22-23) Do not say, "I paid you a bad price," etc. A stone and a stone are an abomination to the Lord, etc. If a person has done you wrong in trade, who has deceived you and sold you counterfeit goods, Do not say, "Pay him with counterfeit money as he did, for in this your loss will be repaid." And "I paid him a bad price," do not say so, but Hope in the Lord and he will save you and fill your deficiency, and bring back his own. If he sold to you with a false weight by a stone and a stone, and you wish to sell him back with deceitful scales, know that a stone and a stone are an abomination to the Lord, and making restitution with deceitful scales is also not good, because the Lord warned the Lord in all ways, and as the saying goes, so above a stone And a stone, wherever it is, is an abomination to the Lord, both of them:

What is the path of a man, I have already explained (above 16:9) because although the choice to choose which path to take is in the hand of the person to the right or to the left, 27 since the movement of the feet is from the Lord and His power, He can hinder him from walking on the path he has chosen (as the saying goes: A man's heart considers his way and the Lord prepares his steps), and so how can a person understand his path, for although it seems to him that his path is good and he agrees with the path of goodness according to his understanding, it is useless, that it depends in vain on the hand of the Lord who completes the action, and this will often be ignored by the person, who will sometimes see a delay in his path that will seem to him to be for the worse, and in truth, what is the Lord's path, and what will a person understand whose understanding is short to achieve:

A man's snare for a holy vow, among the snare traps that a man can be trapped in, is a transgression of the lips, and as the saying goes, a transgression of the lips is a bad snare, and a man must guard his lips from setting a snare for him, and one of the snare traps is if he hastily dedicates without considering carefully, and likewise a man who is hasty in his vows and frequently vows, will easily stumble, whether in a dedication he will transgress, or in a vow he will delay it:

(22-27) The wicked are scattered etc. The lamp of Hashem, flesh and blood, even the wisest if he wants to stand on the truth, and find out whether the wicked have committed any sin or not, he uses 10 tricks, by scattering the wicked and separating them and placing each in a special prison, and there he imposes upon them the manner which was a kind of torture in which they would torture the sinner to confess for his deeds, in which they would roll a mat over his body and due to the greatness of the pain he would be forced to confess, and since it could be that out of the torment he would confess to something false, he would scatter the suspected wicked 21 in a special prison, and torture them by the manner he responded to them 25 until he stands on the truth, but Hashem is against these tricks, because the soul of man is the lamp of Hashem that will shine upon him. To know by what means the secrets of darkness, with this lamp all the chambers of the belly are free to know all the hidden things, as the saying goes: "Who will testify against me? The soul of a man will testify against him."
