THANKSGIVING PRAYER AFTER RECOVERY FROM ILLNESS No less important than prayer for recovery is thanksgiving after recovery. There are many psalms which share this theme; two are suggested here, together with a thanksgiving prayer. If the illness is felt to have been potentially life-threatening, the HaGomel blessing (page 507) should be said on the first occasion one is able to attend the synagogue, either weekday, Shabbat or Festival.
