There is none like You among the heavenly powers, LORD, and there are no works like Yours. Your kingdom is an eternal kingdom, and Your dominion is for all generations. The LORD is King, the LORD was King, the LORD shall be King for ever and all time. The LORD will give strength to His people; the LORD will bless His people with peace. Father of compassion, favor Zion with Your goodness; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. For we trust in You alone, King, God, high and exalted, Master of worlds.
Whenever the Ark set out, Moses would say, “Arise, LORD, and may Your enemies be scattered. May those who hate You flee before You.” For the Torah shall come forth from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. Blessed is He who, in His holiness, gave the Torah to His people Israel.

יהוה The LORD, the LORD, compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in loving-kindness and truth, extending loving-kindness to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion and sin, and absolving [the guilty who repent].

Satisfy my desire, grant my request, and pardon me for all my iniquities and all iniquities of the members of my household, with the pardon of loving-kindness and compassion. Purify us from our sins, our iniquities and our transgressions; remember us with a memory of favorable deeds before You and be mindful of us in salvation and compassion. Remember us for a good life, for peace, for livelihood and sustenance, for bread to eat and clothes to wear, for wealth, honor and length of days dedicated to Your Torah and its commandments. Grant us discernment and understanding that we may understand and discern its deep secrets. Send healing for all our pain, and bless all the work of our hands. Ordain for us decrees of good, salvation and consolation, and nullify all hard and harsh decrees against us. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart find favor before You, LORD, my Rock and Redeemer.

Over all may the name of the Supreme King of kings, the Holy One blessed be He, be magnified and sanctified, praised and glorified, exalted and extolled, in the worlds that He has created – this world and the World to Come – in accordance with His will, and the will of those who fear Him, and the will of the whole house of Israel. He is the Rock of worlds, LORD of all creatures, God of all souls, who dwells in the spacious heights and inhabits the high heavens of old. His holiness is over the Ḥayyot and over the throne of glory. Therefore may Your name, LORD our God, be sanctified among us in the sight of all that lives. Let us sing before Him a new song, as it is written: “Sing to God, make music for His name, extol Him who rides the clouds – the LORD is His name – and exult before Him.” And may we see Him eye to eye when He returns to His abode as it is written: “For they shall see eye to eye when the LORD returns to Zion.” And it is said: “Then will the glory of the LORD be revealed, and all mankind together shall see that the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
Father of mercy, have compassion on the people borne by Him. May He remember the covenant with the mighty (patriarchs), and deliver us from evil times. May He reproach the evil instinct in the people by Him, and graciously grant that we be an eternal remnant. May He fulfill in good measure our requests for salvation and compassion.

וְיַעֲזֹר May He help, shield and save all who seek refuge in Him, and let us say: Amen. Let us all render greatness to our God and give honor to the Torah. *Let the Kohen come forward. Arise (name son of father’s name), the Kohen.
/אֵין כָּאן כֹּהֵן, יַעֲמֹד (פלוני בֶּן פלוני) בִּמְקוֹם כֹּהֵן./
/As there is no Kohen, arise (name son of father’s name) in place of a Kohen./

After the deaths of Aaron’s two sons, when they had drawn close to the LORD and died, the LORD spoke to Moses. And the LORD said to Moses: speak to Aaron your brother, that he come not at any time to the holiest place – behind the curtain, to the presence of the kaporet that covers the Ark – so that he does not die; for I shall be revealed in the cloud above the kaporet. This is how Aaron shall come to the holiest place: he shall bring a young bull for a sin-offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.

He shall wear a consecrated linen tunic, and breeches of linen shall cover his skin; he shall tie a linen sash about him and bind a linen miter on his head. These are the consecrated garments; he shall wash his skin in water and then put them on. From the congregation of Israel he shall take two young goats as a sin-offering, and a ram as a burnt offering. And Aaron shall offer up the sin-offering bullock that is his, as atonement for him and for his family.

He shall take the two goats and stand them before the LORD at the opening of the Tent of Meeting. And for these two goats, Aaron shall draw lots – one lot to the LORD and one lot to Azazel. And Aaron shall offer up the goat whose lot falls to the LORD, and make it a sin-offering. And the goat whose lot falls to Azazel shall be left to stand alive before the LORD, to be an atonement – to be sent away to Azazel, into the wastelands. Aaron shall offer up the sin-offering bullock that is his, as atonement for him and for his family; he shall slaughter the sin-offering bullock that is his.

Then he shall take a pan full of burning coals from the altar, from the presence of the LORD, and with his cupped handsful of finest incense, bring them within the curtain. He shall place the incense into the fire in the presence of the LORD, and a cloud of incense will engulf the kaporet over the [Ark of] Testimony – then he shall not die. He shall take of the bullock’s blood and sprinkle with his finger onto the kaporet before him – and in front of the kaporet, he shall sprinkle seven times from the blood with his finger. And he shall slaughter the sin-offering goat that is the people’s, and bring its blood behind the curtain, and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bullock: he shall sprinkle it onto the kaporet and in front of the kaporet. So shall he bring atonement to the holiest place, for the impurities of Israel, for their rebellions and for all their sins. And so shall he do also for the Tent of Meeting, which abides with them, in the midst of their impurities. No man shall be in the Tent of Meeting when [Aaron] comes to make atonement in the holiest place, until he leaves; and he shall atone himself and his family and all the community of Israel.

Then he shall go out to the altar, which stands in the presence of the LORD, and bring atonement on it, taking of the blood of the bullock and of the goat and applying it to the horns around the altar. And he shall sprinkle of the blood with his finger onto the altar seven times, and purify and sanctify it from the impurities of Israel. When he finishes bringing atonement for the holiest place and the Tent of Meeting and the altar, he shall offer up the living goat. Aaron shall press his hands onto the head of the living goat and confess all the guilt of Israel, and all of their rebellions, all of their sins, and he shall place them onto the head of the goat and send it away at the hand of an appointed man, into the wastelands. That goat shall bear all their guilt upon itself, into a desolate land – he shall send the goat out into the wastelands. And then Aaron shall come to the Tent of Meeting, take off the linen clothes he put on when he entered the holiest place and set them down there. And he shall wash his skin in water in a holy place and put on his clothes, and go out and perform his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, in atonement for himself and for the people.

And he shall burn the fat of the sin-offering like incense on the altar. The one who sends the goat away to Azazel shall clean his clothes and wash his skin in water, and then he may come back into the camp. And the sin-offering bullock and sin-offering goat, the blood of which was brought as atonement to the holiest place, shall be taken out of the camp – their skins and flesh and dung shall be burnt in fire. And the one who burns them shall clean his clothes and wash his skin in water, and then he may come back into the camp. This shall be an everlasting law to you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day, you shall afflict yourselves and perform no kind of work – neither the citizen nor the stranger in your midst. For you will be atoned on this day and made pure; of all your sins before the LORD you shall be purified.

And the priest who is anointed, into whose hands it is given to serve as [High] Priest after his father, he shall wear the linen garments, the consecrated garments. He shall make atonement for the holiest Sanctuary and for the Tent of Meeting; and for the altar shall he make atonement, and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the community of the people. This shall be an everlasting law for you, to make atonement for Israel, for all their sins, once a year. And just as the LORD commanded Moses, so it was done.

He says: Lay a road, lay a road here; clear a way. Lift out of My people’s way all that could make them fall. Thus says the high exalted One, who abides forever, whose name is holy: High and holy I abide – yet I am with the crushed and humbled, giving life to the humbled, giving life to the hearts of the crushed. I will not forever contend with you, will not rage to the bitter end; when the spirit faints before Me – I created these souls. I have raged at the sin behind their profits, have struck them, have hidden My face and raged, as they went wayward on the path their hearts beat out. I have seen their ways and will heal them. I will lead them, will reward them in comfort, them and their mourners; I form the words – Peace, peace, to those far away and near – so the Lord speaks, and heals them. And the wicked are like the ocean surging, unable to be still; its waters fling up mud and filth: There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked. Shout out loud, do not hold back; raise up your voice like a ram’s horn. Tell My people of their rebellion, tell the house of Jacob their sins. Day after day they search for Me; they make it their interest to know My ways, like a nation that always does right, and never neglects their God’s justice. They ask for a righteous ruling. They say that being close to God is all that interests them. “Why do we fast and You do not see it; oppress ourselves when You do not acknowledge?” But even on your fast day you press your interests, oppress all your laborers. Contending and fighting each other you fast, while you beat with the fist of evil. The fast you perform today will not make your voice heard on high. Is this the fast I have chosen – a day when a man will oppress himself? When he bows his head like a rush in the wind, when he lays his bed with sackcloth and ashes? Is this what you call a fast, “a day for the Lord’s favor”? No; this is the fast I choose: Loosen the bindings of evil, and break the slavery chain. Those who were crushed, release to freedom; shatter every yoke of slavery. Break your bread for the starving, and bring dispossessed wanderers home. When you see a person naked, clothe him: do not avert your eyes from your own flesh. And then your light will break out like the sunrise, and healing will grow fast over your wound. Your righteousness will go before you, with the presence of the Lord following behind, to gather up what falls. Then you will call and the Lord will answer; when you cry out, He will say, “I am here”; if you cast the chains of slavery from your midst, the raised fist and ruthless words; if you give of your soul to the starving, and answer the hunger of souls oppressed – then your light will shine out in darkness, and your night itself will shine like noontide. The Lord will ever guide you, and answer your thirst in arid places; He will fortify your bones. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring that flows with never-failing waters. Places ruined long ago will be rebuilt in you; you will raise up houses from age-old foundations. You will be known as mender of the ruptured wall, as the one who restored the paths for living. If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath, from pursuing your affairs on My holy day; if you call the Sabbath a delight, and the Lord’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way or attending to your own affairs, or speaking idle words – then you will find joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the earth and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
