Tannaim dispute whether kinui sotah is a mitzvah or reshut. The stamma d'gemara assumes that kinui sotah is either lekhatchilah or assur. Amoraim dispute whether the husband who is mekanei his wife is under the sway of a ruach taharah or rather a ruach tum'ah.
