Tanya Shar HaYichud Veemunah Chapter 4
"G-D's concealment allows us to think that we exist"
The verse says שמש ומגן ה׳ אלה-ים so the there is.
In the analogy: The Sun & the shield.
In the spiritual reality the divine names of ה׳ & the name אלה-ים.
The י is constantly being מהוה creating & the name אלהים is protecting the flow & revelation that we are able to see & feel the G-D ly light.
In the praise of G-D there are the terms גדול & the term גבור.
The meaning of גדול is: Chesed, expansion, creation something from nothing, free flowing of energy.
Just like humans can't comprehend the way G-D creates something from nothing the same way we can not comprehend any of G-Ds attributes.
The same way we can't comprehend how we are alive from G-Ds infinite light & at the same time G-D is concealed up to the point that we feel & think that we are an independent entity.
In brackets the Alter Rebbe adds that the concealment is called Vessels (כלים) & the energy is called light (אור) the idea of a vessel versus a shield is that a shield blocks the light versus a vessel contains the light however in a finite capability.
Vessels are concealments like letters that are limited, the root of the limits in letters are the 5 final letters of מנצפ״ך & the source of this limitation is בוצינא דקרדוניתא שהיא גבורא עילאה דעתיק יומין & the source of chesed is also of chesed of עתיק יומין as ultimately it all comes from the same place.
