This shiur explains the Alter Rebbe's resolution: the Tree of Good and Evil means the forbidden and permitted things themselves, rooted in kelipas nogah, not the study of their laws. Permitted food is elevated through serving Hashem, all the more on Shabbos, while the study of halachah is the Oral Torah itself.
