Three Levels of Agency and the Limits of Independence
The Rebbe explains Rav Ashi’s view that a non-Jew could theoretically serve as an agent because agency affects the object, not necessarily the sender. The Gemara rejects this, teaching that every form of agency requires a genuine connection between agent and sender.
