These are the descendants of Eisov, also known as Edom.

Now these are the generations of ῾Esav, who is Edom.

And these are the progeny of Esau, who is Edom:

Eisov took his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah, the daughter of Eylon, the Chittite, and Oholivomoh, the daughter of Anoh, daughter of Tzivon, the Chivite.

῾Esav took his wives of the daughters of Kena῾an; ῾Ada the daughter of Elon the Ḥittite, and Oholivama, daughter of ῾Ana, daughter of Żiv῾on the Ḥivvite;

Esau took his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah, the daughter of Elon the Chitti [same as Basmath (26:34)] and Ahalivamah [same as Yehudith (Ibid.)], the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Tzivon, the Chivi [i.e., the daughter of Tzivon by the wife of his son Anah (see 36:24)].

[He also took] Bosmas, the daughter of Yishmael, the sister of Nevayos.

and Basemat, daughter of Yishma᾽el, sister of Nevayot.

And Basmath the daughter of Ishmael [same as Machlath (38:9)], the sister of Nevayoth, [thus referred to here because Nevayoth gave her in marriage after Ishmael's death].

Adah bore to Eisov, [his son] Eliphaz, and Bosmas bore Reueil.

And ῾Ada bore to ῾Esav Elifaz; and Basemat bore Re῾u᾽el;

And Adah bore to Esau, Elifaz; and Basmath bore Reuel.

Oholivomoh bore Yeush, Yalom, and Korach. These are the sons of Eisov that were born to him in the land of Canaan.

and Oholivama bore Ye῾ush and Ya῾lam, and Qoraĥ: these were the sons of ῾Esav who were born to him in the land of Kena῾an.

And Ahalivamah bore Yeush and Ya'alam and Korach. These are the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan.

Eisov took his wives, his sons, his daughters, all the people of his household, his livestock, all his animals, and all his possessions that he had acquired in the land of Canaan, and he went to a land away from his brother, Yaakov.

And ῾Esav took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had acquired in the land of Kena῾an; and went into another country away from his brother Ya῾aqov.

And Esau took his wives and his sons and his daughters and all the souls of his house, and his herds and all of his beasts, and all of his possessions which he had acquired in the land of Canaan, and he went to a land [i.e., to live wherever he could find room] away from Jacob his brother.

For their wealth was too great for them to live together. The land in which they lived temporarily could not support them because of their livestock.

For their property was too great for them to dwell together; and the land in which they sojourned could not bear them because of their cattle.

For their possessions were too great to (allow them to) remain together, and the land of their sojourning could not contain them because of [the pasture land required for] their cattle.

Eisov [therefore] settled in Mount Seir. Eisov is Edom.

Thus dwelt ῾Esav in mount Se῾ir: ῾Esav is Edom.

And Esau dwelt in Mount Seir. Esau is Edom.

These are the descendants of Eisov, the ancestor of Edom in Mount Seir.

And these are the generations of ῾Esav the father of Edom in mount Se῾ir:

And these are the generations of Esau the father of Edom, [which his sons begot] in [i.e., after he went to] the mountain of Seir.

These are the names of Eisov’s sons: Eliphaz, the son of Adah, the wife of Eisov, Reueil, the son of Bosmas, the wife of Eisov.

these are the names of ῾Esav’s sons; Elifaz the son of ῾Ada the wife of ῾Esav, Re῾u᾽el the son of Basemat the wife of ῾Esav.

These are the names of the sons of Esau: Elifaz, the son of Adah, the wife of Esau; Reuel, the son of Basmath, the wife of Esau.

The sons of Eliphaz were Teiman, Omar, Tzepho, Gatam and Kenaz.

And the sons of Elifaz were Teman, Omar, Żefo, and Ga῾tam, and Qenaz.

And the sons of Elifaz were Teman, Omar, Tz'fo, Ga'atam, and Kenaz.

Timna became a concubine to Eliphaz, Eisov’s son, and she bore to Eliphaz [a son], Amaleik. These are the sons of Adah, the wife of Eisov.

And Timna was concubine to Elifaz ῾Esav’s son; and she bore to Elifaz ῾Amaleq; these were the sons of ῾Ada ῾Esav’s wife.

And Timna was concubine to Elifaz the son of Esau, and she bore to Elifaz, Amalek. These are the sons of Adah, the wife of Esau.

These are the sons of Reueil, Nachas, Zerach, Shamoh, and Mizzoh. These were the sons of Bosmas, the wife of Eisov.

And these are the sons of Re῾u᾽el; Naĥat, and Zeraĥ, Shamma, and Mizza: these were the sons of Basemat ῾Esav’s wife.

And these are the sons of Reuel: Nachath and Zerach, Shammah and Mizzah. These were the sons of Basmath, the wife of Esau.

These are the sons of Oholivomoh, the daughter of Anoh, the daughter of Tzivon, the wife of Eisov; she bore to Eisov: Ye’ush, Yalom and Korach.

And these were the sons of Oholivama, the daughter of ῾Ana the daughter of Żiv῾on, ῾Esav’s wife: and she bore to ῾Esav Ye῾ush, and Ya῾lam, and Qoraĥ.

And these were the sons of Ahalivamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Tzivon, the wife of Esau. She bore to Esau Yeush and Ya'alam and Korach.

These are the chiefs of the sons of Eisov: the sons of Eliphaz, Eisov’s first born: Chief Teiman, Chief Omar, Chief Tzepho, Chief Kenaz.

These were the chiefs of the sons of ῾Esav: the sons of Elifaz the firstborn son of ῾Esav; the chief Teman, the chief Omar, the chief Żefo, the chief Qenaz,

These are the chiefs [i.e., the heads of families] of the sons of Esau. The sons of Elifaz, the first-born of Esau: Chief Teman, Chief Omar, Chief Tzefo, Chief Kenaz.

Chief Korach, Chief Gatam, Chief Amaleik. These are the chiefs of Eliphaz in the land of Edom. These are the sons of Adah.

the chief Qoraĥ, the chief Ga῾tam, the chief ῾Amaleq: these are the chiefs of Elifaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of ῾Ada.

Chief Korach, Chief Ga'atam, Chief Amalek. These are the chiefs of Elifaz in the land of Edom. These are the sons of Adah.

These are the sons of Reu’eil, Eisov’s son: Chief Nachas, Chief Zerach. Chief Shamoh, Chief Mizzoh. These are the Chiefs of Reu’eil in the land of Edom. These are sons of Bosmas, wife of Eisov.

And these are the sons of Re῾u᾽el ῾Esav’s son; the chief Naĥat, the chief Zeraĥ, the chief Shamma, the chief Mizza: these are the chiefs that came of Re῾u᾽el in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Basemat ῾Esav’s wife.

And these are the sons of Reuel the son of Esau: Chief Nachath, Chief Zerach, Chief Shammah, Chief Mizzah. These are the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom. These are the sons of Basmath, the wife of Esau.

These are the sons of Oholivomoh, wife of Eisov: Chief Ye’ush, Chief Yalom, Chief Korach. These are the Chiefs of Oholivomoh, daughter of Anoh, wife of Eisov.

And these are the sons of Oholivama ῾Esav’s wife; the chief Ye῾ush, the chief Ya῾lam, the chief Qoraĥ: these were the chiefs that came of Oholivama the daughter of ῾Ana, ῾Esav’s wife.

And these are the sons of Ahalivamah the wife of Esau: Chief Yeush, Chief Ya'alam, Chief Korach. These are the chiefs of Ahalivamah the daughter of Anah the wife of Esau.

These are the sons of Eisov, and these are their chiefs, he is Edom.

These are the sons of ῾Esav, who is Edom, and these are their chiefs.

These are the sons of Esau, and these are their chiefs. He is Edom.

These are the sons of Se’ir, the Chorite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, Shoval, Tzivon, and Anoh.

These are the sons of Se῾ir the Ḥorian who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shoval, and Żiv῾on and ῾Ana.

These are the sons of Seir the Chori, the inhabitants of the land [before Esau came there]: Lotan, Shoval, Tzivon, and Anah.

Dishon, Eitzer and Dishan, these are the chiefs of the Chorites, the sons of Se’ir, in the land of Edom.

And Dishon, and Eżer, and Dishan: these are the chiefs of the Ḥori, the children of Se῾ir in the land of Edom.

And Dishon and Etzer and Dishan. These are the chiefs of the Chori, the sons of Seir in the land of Edom.

The sons of Lotan were Chori and Heimam. Lotan’s sister was Timna.

And the children of Lotan were Ḥori and Hemam; and Lotan’s sister was Timna.

And the sons of Lotan were Chori and Hemam, and the sister of Lotan [by his mother, but not by his father, Seir (20)] was Timna.

These are the sons of Shoval: Alvan, Manachas, Eival, Shefo and Onom.

And the children of Shoval were these; ῾Alevan, and Manaĥat, and ῾Eval, Shefo, and Onam.

And these are the sons of Shoval: Alvan and Manachath and Eval, Shefo and Onam.

These are the sons of Tzivon: Ayoh and Anoh. He is the same Anoh who found the mules in the desert while tending the donkeys for his father, Tzivon.

And these are the children of Żiv῾on; both Ayya, and ῾Ana: this was that ῾Ana that found the hot springs in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Żiv῾on his father.

And these are the sons of Tzivon: Ayah and Anah. This is the Anah [mentioned above (20) as the brother of Tzivon (Tzivon lived with his mother and begot Anah)], who "found" the yemim [(lit., "fearful ones," white mules, whose kick is dreaded)], in the desert when he grazed [i.e., mated] the asses belonging to Tzivon his father [with horses. (Being a bastard, he gendered bastards.)]

These are the children of Anoh: Dishon, and Oholivomoh the daughter of Anoh.

And the children of ῾Ana were these; Dishon, and Oholivama the daughter of ῾Ana.

And these are the children of Anah: Dishon and Ahalivamah the daughter of Anah.

These are the sons of Dishon: Chemdan, Eshban, Yisran and Keran.

And these are the children of Dishan; Ḥemdan, and Eshban, and Yitran, and Keran.

And these are the sons of Dishan: Chemdan, Eshban, Yithran, and Ch'ran.

These are the sons of Eitzer: Bilhan, Za’avan and Akan.

The children of Eżer are these; Bilhan, and Za῾avan, and ῾Aqan.

These are the sons of Etzer: Bilhan, Za'avan, and Akkan.

These are the sons of Dishon: Utz and Aran.

The children of Dishan are these; Uż, and Aran.

These are the sons of Dishan: Utz and Aran.

These are the chiefs of the Chorites: Chief Lotan, Chief Shoval, Chief Tzivon, Chief Anoh.

These are the chiefs that came of the Ḥori: the chief Lotan, the chief Shoval, the chief Żiv῾on, the chief ῾Ana,

These are the chiefs of the Chori: Chief Lotan, Chief Shoval, Chief Tzivon, Chief Anah.

Chief Dishon, Chief Eitzer, Chief Dishan. These are the chiefs of the Chorites based on the ranks of chiefs in the Land of Se’ir.

the chief Dishon, the chief Eżer, the chief Dishan: these are the chiefs that came of the Ḥori, according to their chiefs in the land of Se῾ir.

Chief Dishon, Chief Etzer, Chief Dishan. These are the chiefs of the Chori according to their chiefs in the land of Seir.

These are the kings who reigned in the Land of Edom before any king reigned over the Children of Israel.

And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Yisra᾽el.

And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom before a king reigned over the children of Israel.

Bela, son of Be’or reigned in Edom, and the name of his city was Dinhavah.

And Bela the son of Be῾or reigned in Edom: and the name of his city was Dinhava.

And there reigned in Edom Bela the son of Be'or; and the name of his city was Dinhavah.

Bela died, and he was succeeded as king by Yovav, son of Zerach, from Botzroh.

And Bela died, and Yovav the son of Zeraĥ of Bożra reigned in his place;

And Bala died, and there reigned in his stead Yovav the son of Zerach from Batzrah [a Moavite city].

Yovav died, and he was succeeded as king by Chusham from the land of the Teimanites.

and Yovav died, and Ḥusham of the land of the Temani reigned in his place;

And Yovav died, and there reigned in his stead Chisham from the land of the Temani.

Chusham died, and he was succeeded as king by Hadad, son of Bedad, who attacked Midian in the field of Moav, and the name of his city was Avis.

and Ḥusham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midyan in the field of Mo᾽av, reigned in his place; and the name of his city was ῾Avit.

And Chusham died, and there reigned in his stead Haddad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moav, [Edom joining forces with Moav against Midian]. And the name of his city was Avith.

Hadad died, and he was succeeded as king by Samlah of Masriekah.

And Hadad died, and Samla of Masreqa reigned in his place;

And Haddad died, and there reigned in his stead Samlah from Masrekah.

Samlah died, and he was succeeded as king by Sha’ul from Rechovos-by-the-river.

and Samla died, and Sha᾽ul of Reĥovot by the river reigned in his place;

And Samlah died, and there reigned in his stead Shaul from Rechovoth Hanahar.

Sha’ul died, and he was succeeded as king by Ba’al-Chanan, son of Achbor.

and Sha᾽ul died, and Ba῾al-ĥanan the son of ῾Akhbor reigned in his place;

And Shaul died, and there reigned in his stead Bal Chanan the son of Achbor.

Ba’al-Chanan, son of Achbor died, and he was succeeded as king by Hadar. The name of his city was Pa’u. His wife’s name was Meheitaveil, the daughter of Matreid, daughter of Mei-Zahav.

and Ba῾al-ĥanan the son of ῾Akhbor died, and Hadar reigned in his place, and the name of his city was Pa῾u; and his wife’s name was Mehetav᾽el, daughter of Matred, daughter of Me-zahav.

And Bal Chanan the son of Achbor died, and there reigned in his stead Haddad. And the name of his city was Pau; and the name of his wife was Mehetavel the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mei Zahav [= mahu zahav — "Of what value is gold?" (gold being of no significance to him in the enormity of his wealth)].

These are the names of the chiefs of Eisov, each with their families, according to their places, by their names: Chief Timna, Chief Alvoh, Chief Yeseis.

And these are the names of the chiefs that came of ῾Esav, according to their families, after their places, by their names; the chief Timna, the chief ῾Aleva, the chief Yetet,

And these are the names of the chiefs of Esau, according to their families, after their places by their [the places'] names [the kingship having ended with Haddad]: the chief of Timna, the chief of Avlah, the chief of Yetheth.

Chief Oholivomoh, Chief Eilah, Chief Pinon.

the chief Magdi᾽el, the chief ῾Iram: these are the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land of their possession. He is ῾Esav the father of Edom.

Chief Magdiel [Rome], Chief Iram. These are the chiefs of Edom by their habitations in the land of their holding. This is Esau the father of Edom.
