Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021

And sometimes it repeats the noun for other teachings.

Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021

As with respect to quarantine, with any first quarantine, it says והסגיר את הנגע (then the priest shall shut up him that has the plague)³⁰⁷, since the plague will remain anyway when he will need a second quarantine.

footnotes: ³⁰⁷ Leviticus 13:4.

Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021

And when it is written (And whosoever touches his bed)³⁰⁸, there is a homiletical interpretation.

footnotes: ³⁰⁸ Leviticus 15:5.

Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021

(And if he that has the issue spit upon him that is clean)³⁰⁹.

(And if the bright spot be white in the skin of his flesh, and the appearance thereof be not deeper than the skin, and the hair thereof be not turned white, then the priest shall shut up him that has the plague seven days), using the words והסגיר את הנגע for “then the priest shall shut up him that has the plague”. The word הנגע (the plague) is superfluous, since it could use the wordוהסגירוand the reader would understand that the pronoun means “the plague”, from the previous verse. This is to teach that it is only talking about the first seven days of quarantine³¹⁰.
