In a place that begins with the noun נפש (soul) – the verb or two verbs (that come consecutively after it) must come in feminine. And verbs that come after נפש as a consequence or in the conclusion of a conditional statement will come in masculine, unless it is a verb that is typically used with the noun נפש (for instance, the verb אכילה (eating), חטא (sin), טומאה (uncleanness), כרת (cut off)); then they will also come afterwards in feminine.
