יש הבדל בין "שכר" ובין "פעולה".
There is a difference between a שכר and פעולה (laborer):
בשם "פעולה" ישקיף על פרטי המלאכות אשר פעל ועשה, ובשם "שכר" ישקיף על הרווח לבד.
The noun פעולה focuses on the particulars of the labor that one performs, while the nounשכר focuses on the payment alone.
או כגון ששכרו לזמן וישקיף לפי מה שהתנה עמו; האומן יקבל בעד הפעולה והשכיר לפי שכר הקצוב.
Or for example,שכר focuses on one’s wages for a period of time, and it focuses according to what is stipulated with it; the craftsman accepts for the sake of his labor and the salaried employee according to a fixed payment.
ויש עוד הבדל שה'שכר' מיוחס רק אל מי ששכרוהו, לא אל מה שפעל על ידי אמצעי. וה'פעולה' תתיחס גם במה שפעל על ידי אמצעי. (קדושים סימן ל)
And there are more differences in thatשכר only refers to who gets paid, not what is worked on through a middleman. But **** פעולהrefers also to what gets worked on through a middleman.
