וכן בשם הקיבוץ – עדה, מחנה, וכדומה – יבוא הפעל שאחריו בלשון יחיד ולפעמים בלשון רבים – "ותשא כל העדה", "ויבואו כל העדה". ויש הבדל. כשידבר על כללותם יבוא הפעל בלשון יחיד, וכשידבר על כל פרט יבוא בלשון רבים. (ויקרא ס' רמב)
And moreover, with a collective noun – עדה (congregation), מחנה (camp), etc. – the verb that is before it will come in singular and sometimes in plural - ותשא כל העדה (And all the congregation lifted)¹²², ויבואו כל העדה (And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came)¹²³. And there is a distinction: Whenever it is speaking about them as a whole, the verb will come in singular, and whenever it is speaking about each individual, it will come in plural.
