The conjunction letter ו – it is the opinion of Rabbi Abraham ben Meir Ibn Ezra and the Radak that it is like the prefix letter ف (pronounced fe) in Arabic (which can mean “and” or “so” or “then”). And the opinion of the Radak’s father in the book Sefer HaGilui is that it alludes to a missing word. And there is in this a disagreement between the Tannaim about the verse ולקח באצבעו ונתן (And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin-offering with his finger, and put it)⁷⁷⁶ with regard to whether it is interpreted based on juxtaposition to the language preceding it or the language following it⁷⁷⁷. And according to the sages of blessed memory, a letter ו that comes like this is always interpreted according to a homiletical interpretation.
