אֲרֵי יִסַּב גְּבַר אִתְּתָא וְיִבְעֲלִנַּהּ וִיהֵי אִם לָא תַשְׁכַּח רַחֲמִין בְּעֵינוֹהִי אֲרֵי אַשְׁכַּח בַּהּ עֲבֵרַת פִּתְגָּם וְיִכְתּוֹב לַהּ גֵּט פִּטּוּרִין וִיהַב בִּידַהּ וְיִפְטְרִנַּהּ מִבֵּיתֵיהּ:

If a man marries a woman and consummates with her; should she not find favor in his eyes because he found in her something lecherous [sinful], he is to write for her a document of severance and place [it] in her hand and send her from his home.

וְתִפּוֹק מִבֵּיתֵיהּ וּתְהַךְ וּתְהֵי לִגְבַר אָחֳרָן:

If she leaves his home and goes and becomes [wife] to another man.

וְיִסְנִנַּהּ גַּבְרָא בַתְרָאָה וְיִכְתּוֹב לַהּ גֵּט פִּטּוּרִין וְיִתֵּן בִּידַהּ וְיִפְטְרִנַּהּ מִבֵּיתֵיהּ אוֹ אֲרֵי יְמוּת גַּבְרָא בַתְרָאָה דְּנָסְבַהּ לֵיהּ לְאִנְתּוּ:

If her last husband hates her and writes for her a document of severance and places [it] in her hand and sends her from his house, or if the latter man dies, who had taken her as his wife;

לֵית לֵיהּ רְשׁוּ לְבַעֲלַהּ קַדְמָאָה דִי פָטְרַהּ לְמִתֻּב לְמִסְּבַהּ לְמֶהֱוֵי לֵיהּ לְאִנְתּוּ בָּתַר דִּי אִסְתָּאָבַת אֲרֵי מְרָחָקָא הִיא קֳדָם יְיָ וְלָא תְחַיַּב יָת אַרְעָא דִּי יְיָ אֱלָהָךְ יָהֵב לָךְ אַחֲסָנָא:

Her first husband who divorced her may not [has no permission to] remarry her to be his wife after her having been defiled, for it is an abomination before Adonoy; and you are not to make liable the land that Adonoy, your God, is giving you as territory.

אֲרֵי יִסַּב גְּבַר אִתְּתָא חַדְתָּא לָא יִפּוֹק בְּחֵילָא וְלָא יֵעִבַר עֲלוֹהִי לְכָל מִדָּעַם פָּנֵי יְהֵי לְבֵיתֵיהּ שַׁתָּא חֲדָא וְיַחְדֵּי יָת אִתְּתֵיהּ דִּי נְסַב:

When a man marries a new wife, he is not to be mobilized into the army, it shall not impose itself over him in any matter; he shall be free for his home one year and he shall bring joy to the wife he married.

לָא יִסַּב מַשְׁכּוֹנָא רִחְיָא וְרִכְבָּא אֲרֵי בְהוֹן מִתְעֲבֵד מָזוֹן לְכָל נְפַשׁ:

He may not secure as collateral a mortar or pestle, for his is taking life as security [for sustinance is made with these for all souls].

אֲרֵי יִשְׁתְּכַח גְּבַר גָּנֵב נַפְשָׁא מֵאֲחוֹהִי מִבְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְיִתָּגַר בֵּיהּ וִיזַבְּנִנֵּיהּ וְיִתְקְטֵל גַּנָּבָא הַהוּא וּתְפַלֵּי עָבֵד דְּבִישׁ מִבֵּינָךְ:

If a man is apprehended having kidnaped a person from his brothers, from the descendants of Yisroel, and he exploited him and sold him; that kidnaper is to be put to death and you will eliminate the evil [doer] within you.

אִסְתַּמַּר בְּמַכְתַּשׁ סְגִירוּ לְמִטַּר לַחֲדָא וּלְמֶעְבָּד כְּכֹל דִּי יַלְּפוּן יָתְכוֹן כָּהֲנַיָּא לֵוָאֵי כְּמָא דִי פַקֶּדְתִּנּוּן תִּטְּרוּן לְמֶעְבָּד:

Take precautions with the leprosy affliction to be extremely careful and to do—in accordance with everything that the kohanim the Levites shall instruct you; as I commanded them are you to make sure to do.

הֲוֵי דְכִיר יָת דִּי עֲבַד יְיָ אֱלָהָךְ לְמִרְיָם בְּאָרְחָא בְּמִפָּקְכוֹן מִמִּצְרָיִם:

Remember what Adonoy, your God, did to Miriam on the way when you were going out of Egypt.

אֲרֵי תַרְשֵׁי בְחַבְרָךְ רְשׁוּ מִדָּעַם לָא תֵעוּל לְבֵיתֵיהּ לְמִסַּב מַשְׁכּוֹנֵיהּ:

If you become your fellow’s creditor for any amount of debt, do not enter his house to take his pledge [collateral].

בְּבָרָא תְּקוּם וְגַבְרָא דִּי אַתְּ רָשֵׁי בֵיהּ יַפֵּק לְוָתָךְ יָת מַשְׁכּוֹנָא לְבָרָא:

Stand outside, and the man from whom you are claiming, will bring out the pledge [collateral] to you outside.

וְאִם גְּבַר מִסְכֵּן הוּא לָא תִשְׁכּוּב בְּמַשְׁכּוֹנֵיהּ:

And if he is a poor man, do not repose with his collateral [in your possession].

אָתָבָא תָתֵב לֵיהּ יָת מַשְׁכּוֹנָא כְּמֵעַל שִׁמְשָׁא וְיִשְׁכּוּב בִּכְסוּתֵיהּ וִיבָרֵכִנָּךְ וְלָךְ תְּהֵי זְכוּתָא קֳדָם יְיָ אֱלָהָךְ:

Return are you to return the pledge [collateral] to him at sunset, and he will sleep with his garment and bless you; and it will be to your credit [merit] before Adonoy, your God.

לָא תְעִשּׁוּק אֲגִירָא עַנְיָא וּמִסְכֵּנָא מֵאַחָיךְ אוֹ מִגִּיּוֹרָךְ דִּי בְאַרְעָךְ בְּקִרְוָיךְ:

Do not steal from the wage earner who is poor or destitute; from your brothers or your converts who are in your land in your cities.

בְּיוֹמֵיהּ תִּתֵּן אַגְרֵיהּ וְלָא תֵעוּל עֲלוֹהִי שִׁמְשָׁא אֲרֵי עַנְיָא הוּא וְלֵיהּ הוּא מְסַר יָת נַפְשֵׁיהּ וְלָא יִקְרֵי עֲלָךְ קֳדָם יְיָ וִיהֵי בָךְ חוֹבָא:

On its day give his wage and let the sun not set upon it, for he is a poor man, and he places his life in jeopardy for it; [so that] he should not complain about you to [before] Adonoy, and you will have a sin.

לָא יְמוּתוּן אֲבָהָן עַל פּוּם בְּנִין וּבְנִין לָא יְמוּתוּן עַל פּוּם אֲבָהָן אֱנַשׁ בְּחוֹבֵיהּ יְמוּתוּן:

Fathers shall not be executed through [by the mouths of] sons, and sons shall not be executed through [by the mouths of] fathers; each to be executed for his sin.

לָא תַצְלֵי דִין גִּיּוֹרָא וְיִתַּמָּא וְלָא תִסַּב מַשְׁכּוֹנָא לְבוּשׁ אַרְמְלָא:

Do not be devious in [forcibly wrench] the judgment of the proselyte or orphan; and you may not secure as collateral, a widow’s garment.

וְתִדְכַּר אֲרֵי עַבְדָּא הֲוֵיתָא בְּמִצְרַיִם וּפָרְקָךְ יְיָ אֱלָהָךְ מִתַּמָּן עַל כֵּן אֲנָא מְפַקְּדָךְ לְמֶעְבַּד יָת פִּתְגָּמָא הָדֵין:

Remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and Adonoy, your God, redeemed you from there; that is why I am commanding you to do this thing.

אֲרֵי תַחְצוֹד חֲצָדָךְ בְּחַקְלָךְ וְתִנְשֵׁי עֻמְרָא בְחַקְלָא לָא תְתוּב לְמִסְּבֵיהּ לְגִיּוֹרָא לְיִתַּמָּא וּלְאַרְמְלָא יְהֵי בְּדִיל דִּיבָרֵכִנָּךְ יְיָ אֱלָהָךְ בְּכֹל עוֹבָדֵי יְדָךְ:

When you reap your reaping in your field, and you forget a sheaf in the field, you may not return to take it; for the proselyte, for the orphan, and for the widow let it be; in order that Adonoy, your God, will bless you in all your endeavors.

אֲרֵי תַחְבּוֹט זֵיתָךְ לָא תְפַלֵּי בַּתְרָךְ לְגִיּוֹרָא לְיִתַּמָּא וּלְאַרְמְלָא יְהֵי:

When you harvest your olive tree, you may not strip it of its glory behind you. for the proselyte, for the orphan, and for the widow let it be.

אֲרֵי תִקְטוֹף כַּרְמָךְ לָא תְעָלֵל בַּתְרָךְ לְגִיּוֹרָא לְיִתַּמָּא וּלְאַרְמְלָא יְהֵי:

When you harvest your vineyard you may not harvest pygmy vines behind you; for the proselyte, for the orphan, and for the widow let it be.

וְתִדְכַּר אֲרֵי עַבְדָּא הֲוֵיתָא בְּאַרְעָא דְמִצְרָיִם עַל כֵּן אֲנָא מְפַקְּדָךְ לְמֶעְבַּד יָת פִּתְגָּמָא הָדֵין:
