(דברים טו כ) לִפְנֵי ה׳ אֱלֹהֶיךָ תֹּאכֲלֶנּוּ שָׁנָה בְשָׁנָה, מְלַמֵּד שֶׁהַבְּכוֹר נֶאֱכָל לִשְׁנֵי יָמִים: יוֹם אֶחָד לְשָׁנָה זוֹ וְיוֹם אֶחָד לַשָּׁנָה הַבָּאָה.

Pisqa’ 125³⁸⁶
- “Before HASHEM your God shall you eat it year by year,” (Dt. 15:20). This teaches that the Firstling is eaten for two days³⁸⁷— one day [at the end] of this year [of life] and one day at [the beginning of] the next year.
